The Burnham Community Dialogue: Designing the Future Workplace


Work as we know it has changed forever. Innovative cities are re-thinking and re-designing future workplaces that meet the needs of their residents and communities.

Please join us for a community conversation with Midway Rising - the team selected by the City of San Diego to revitalize the Midway District and Sports Arena. The project includes over 4,000 new homes, including 2,000 affordable units, and will create 8,500 new jobs. Their proposal estimates this transformative opportunity will generate over $27 million a year in revenue for city services, in addition to over $7 billion in positive economic impacts for the region. EC2 Construction Career Exploration Day


EC2 (Educate, Create, Cultivate) will be highlighting one of our workforce development partnerships, by providing a hands-on career exploration experience for 30 high school students.

I'd like to invite you to see a portion or all of it first hand. This will be a great opportunity to see a state-of-the-art Apprenticeship Training facility in our region and encourage some young people as they consider their future!

The Exploration Day will provide the students with a hands-on experience in various construction-related activities: Wood Framing; Heavy Equipment Operator; Steel Stud and Drywall; Finance and Accounting; 3D Modeling; and Drone and Virtual Reality Training. EC2 partners will lead each workshop as the students rotate every 30 minutes.

AIGA San Diego Presents the Graphis Designers for Peace


Graphis’ Designers for Peace: United with Ukraine is a global juried exhibition of contemporary poster art to create a united voice of opposition to the war in Ukraine. This exhibition features more than 60 pieces of poster art from over 30 countries, curated by Graphis CEO B. Martin Pedersen, and jury chair, Kit Hinrichs, Studio Hinrichs.

AIGA San Diego was chosen by Graphis to be the first city in the world to showcase this exhibit, which will be held as a cross-border event. The opening is also in Tijuana on Nov. 17th.

Kit Hinrichs and others will be signing posters. Posters and show catalog for sale at the event (proceeds support humanitarian aid for the people of Ukraine).

HomeAid San Diego’s 4th Annual STEP UP! Walk to End Homelessness & 20th Anniversary Celebration


Join HomeAid San Diego as we celebrate 20 years during our 4th annual STEP UP! Walk to End Homelessness November 13, 2022 at De Anza Cove, Mission Bay Park.  We will continue the event November 14-20 as a virtual 5k in locations around the country.

Check-in at our in-person event on Nov. 13 will open at 7:30am with a program at 8am and stepping off on the walk at 8:30am. After the walk we will have a pancake breakfast and highlight HomeAid SD’s key accomplishments from 2002 to now.

All proceeds benefit HomeAid San Diego’s building projects, community outreach and advocacy efforts.  Take a look at completed projects across San Diego that were supported by HomeAid San Diego.

Politifest is Voice of San Diego’s annual summit dedicated to the most relevant debates and discussions for local voters and residents. For 2022, VOSD is hosting a robust schedule of debates and panels at the University of San Diego, including an important discussion on homelessness with Mayor Todd Gloria and Board of Supervisors Chair Nathan Fletcher and a highly anticipated statewide ballot initiative primer with their partners at CalMatters. They are also holding Politifest South focused on elections and issues in Chula Vista and National City.

Burnham Community Dialogue: World Design Capital 2024


Partnered with the World Design Capital, UCSD Design Lab, Design Forward Alliance, the City of San Diego, and the City of Tijuana, during this first Burnham Community Dialogue, participants discussed the recent and unprecedented World Design Capital 2024 designation for our San Diego-Tijuana region.

National Conflict Resolution Center Civic Engagement Initiative


Through this series, participants gained skills to communicate effectively, work together and connect with each other, and participate in civic dialogue.

Site Visit to San Diego-Tijuana by the World Design Organization


BCCA and our partners showcased the San Diego-Tijuana region to the World Design Organization as it decided whether to award the World Design Capital 2024 designation to San Diego-Tijuana or Moscow, Russia.
