Burnham Community Dialogue: San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance Leadership

Burnham Community Dialogue: Binational Blue Line Trolley Extension Concept to Mitigate Congestion at the US-Mexico Border

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2022

The Burnham Center for Community Advancement and MyPoint Credit Union invite you to discuss a concept project to extend the Blue Line trolley across the border into Tijuana. Included in this proposal is to optimize the San Ysidro Transit Center, build a connecting advanced transit clearance facility in Tijuana, Mexico, and provide improved traveler information using Smart Gates Program and Mobility Technology. Tad Parzen, President and CEO of the Burnham Center for Community Advancement, will moderate a presentation led by the project team, Binational Mobility Solutions Partners (BMSP), where speakers will share the goals of the project, potential benefits to the region and next steps to make the project a reality.

EC2 Construction Career Exploration Day

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2022

EC2 (Educate, Create, Cultivate) will be highlighting one of our workforce development partnerships, by providing a hands-on career exploration experience for 30 high school students.

I'd like to invite you to see a portion or all of it first hand. This will be a great opportunity to see a state-of-the-art Apprenticeship Training facility in our region and encourage some young people as they consider their future!

The Exploration Day will provide the students with a hands-on experience in various construction-related activities: Wood Framing; Heavy Equipment Operator; Steel Stud and Drywall; Finance and Accounting; 3D Modeling; and Drone and Virtual Reality Training. EC2 partners will lead each workshop as the students rotate every 30 minutes.

California Commission on Asian and PacificIslander American Affairs Listening Session

On behalf of the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs, I am excited to invite you to participate in our listening session this Fall. We will be hosting listening sessions from October 24th through November 17th, 2022, with most of the sessions being in-person. Our hope is to continue to be informed by the community and learn about any pressing socio-economic and political issues impacting AANHPI community members in your region. These issues may include, but are not limited to, anti-Asian hate, education equity, health access, immigrant and refugee rights, and socio-economic concerns and outcomes.

AIGA San Diego Presents the Graphis Designers for Peace

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2022

Graphis’ Designers for Peace: United with Ukraine is a global juried exhibition of contemporary poster art to create a united voice of opposition to the war in Ukraine. This exhibition features more than 60 pieces of poster art from over 30 countries, curated by Graphis CEO B. Martin Pedersen, and jury chair, Kit Hinrichs, Studio Hinrichs.

AIGA San Diego was chosen by Graphis to be the first city in the world to showcase this exhibit, which will be held as a cross-border event. The opening is also in Tijuana on Nov. 17th.

Kit Hinrichs and others will be signing posters. Posters and show catalog for sale at the event (proceeds support humanitarian aid for the people of Ukraine).

HomeAid San Diego’s 4th Annual STEP UP! Walk to End Homelessness & 20th Anniversary Celebration

Join HomeAid San Diego as we celebrate 20 years during our 4th annual STEP UP! Walk to End Homelessness November 13, 2022 at De Anza Cove, Mission Bay Park.  We will continue the event November 14-20 as a virtual 5k in locations around the country.

Check-in at our in-person event on Nov. 13 will open at 7:30am with a program at 8am and stepping off on the walk at 8:30am. After the walk we will have a pancake breakfast and highlight HomeAid SD’s key accomplishments from 2002 to now.

All proceeds benefit HomeAid San Diego’s building projects, community outreach and advocacy efforts.  Take a look at completed projects across San Diego that were supported by HomeAid San Diego.
