THE BURNHAM COMMUNITY DIALOGUE: The Military’s Impact & Legacy on the San Diego Region
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 2025
San Diego’s military presence shapes our economy, culture, and social fabric in profound ways. The region is home to the largest concentration of military personnel in the country, with more than 100,000 active-duty service members and over 240,000 veterans calling San Diego County home. The military contributes an estimated $63 billion annually to the local economy and directly employs nearly 148,000 San Diego residents through the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Veterans Administration (VA). Additionally, military-related government contracts generate over 222,000 more jobs, meaning nearly a quarter of the region’s workforce is tied to the military sector.
Join us for an insightful Burnham Community Dialogue as we explore:
• The military’s impact and legacy in our region.
• Challenges and opportunities facing enlisted personnel and veterans, including support and advocacy efforts.
• How we honor military service members.
